Initiatives and Recognition

In 2018, the Wichita Business Journal recognized Foulston as a “Leader in Diversity.”

  • Diversity and inclusion committee chairs Ed Watson and Amy Lemley have both been recognized as leaders in diversity by the Wichita Business Journal.
  • The firm financially supports and participates in the Annual Judges’ Day Diversity Student Tour
  • We celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr., Day annually as a firm holiday and mark the event with a firm diversity and inclusion-related presentation. Speakers have included Foulston clients speaking on the importance of D&I, as well as wrongfully imprisoned Darryl Burton, with Miracle of Innocence.
  • To enhance the understanding of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s mission (which we believe embodies the values of inclusion) our firm encourages its teams to engage in service to the community. Such community engagements, supported by the firm and staffed by lawyers and staff, have included:
    • Hosting free small-business training for minority business chambers;
    • Organizing Habitat for Humanity home builds;
    • Distributing free books to League 42 (a nonprofit organization to introduce affordable baseball to kids who may not otherwise have the chance to participate in youth league sports);
    • Packaging food for the Kansas Food Bank, which distributes food to other food banks and to children in food-insecure homes
    • Helping Homeworks renovate and repair housing for youth who have aged out of the foster-care system
