Profile

1934 – 2024

Foulston Siefkin LLP lost a long-time partner, friend, and former managing partner with the passing of Charles J. “Chuck” Woodin.

Born in 1934, Chuck was a graduate of Wichita East High School, and earned an electrical engineering degree from Yale University before attending the University of Kansas School of Law. He earned his Juris Doctor, graduating Order of the Coif, and served as Editor in Chief of the Kansas Law Review before joining Foulston, where he practiced for more than 60 years.

Chuck’s practice focused on oil, gas, and minerals, providing counsel to clients from individual land and mineral owners to some of the world’s largest major integrated oil and gas companies. He was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America©, and most recently, named the 2022 Wichita Energy Law “Lawyer of the Year.”

He is survived by his wife, Sandy, daughters Susan Olson, Shelly Gillum, Stacy Woodin, and Shelly Riedel, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, plus many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Chuck is a cornerstone of the firm’s current success. We will be forever grateful for his legacy as a lawyer and friend.
