Topeka's Foulston Siefkin LLP Commits to Historic Downtown Office Building

February 6, 2020

TOPEKA, KAN. – Law firm Foulston Siefkin LLP’s Topeka office will soon have a new downtown home in a historic 120-year-old building. The firm has signed a lease for the second floor of 824 S. Kansas Avenue, just three blocks south of its current offices. Following a renovation, the firm’s team of approximately 15 lawyers and staff will move into the new offices in early summer 2020.

“We’ve been in Topeka for nearly 30 years and have always had a Kansas Avenue address,” says Foulston’s partner-in-charge Jeremy Graber. Ahead of its current lease expiration, Foulston began reviewing its options more than a year ago, with the desire to remain downtown. Graber explains, “Although we needed to conduct our due diligence, we’re very happy that our best option is also our first choice: to remain in downtown Topeka. Foulston is dedicated to improving the communities where we work and live. So our decision to stay in downtown Topeka aligns with our company values and the efforts of the Greater Topeka Partnership and its private partners to make our downtown a flourishing, vibrant commercial and retail district.”

Mike Morse of Kansas Commercial Real Estate was instrumental in helping Foulston identify and vet space, and the firm signed a lease for the second-floor office space on Jan. 31. Foulston is working closely with building owners Jim Klausman and Butch Eaton and their team to retain the building’s historical feel, yet create offices with contemporary amenities and growth potential. The building, home to Brew Bank on the first floor, is in Topeka’s South Kansas Avenue Commercial Historic District – one of seven National Historic Register Districts in the city. It is a two-story two-part commercial brick building constructed in 1900 and within walking distance of both the county and federal courthouses and the State Capitol.

Founded in 1919, Foulston recently celebrated the firm’s 100th anniversary. Its Topeka office opened in 1991, followed by a Kansas City office in 2001.
