Recently retired Ms. Gilman has practiced law for over 35 years, with the last 31 devoted to federal criminal defense. She has represented individuals targeted for criminal investigation, as well as those charged with criminal offenses, through trial and appellate levels. She has defended clients facing a broad variety of federal charges, including white collar cases, during which she has acquired significant familiarity with the practices and operations of federal criminal law enforcement agencies. She has managed three law offices devoted exclusively to federal criminal defense, and has served on various committees assigned to maintaining the quality of federal criminal justice in Kansas, as well as before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. She practiced as special counsel to the firm’s healthcare and litigation practice groups in the areas of healthcare law, fraud and abuse, and white collar crime. She has represented professionals in the legal, medical, financial, and banking fields. Ms. Gilman has Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory’s highest “AV” rating for lawyers. She has received a number of awards, including the Kansas Bar Association Distinguished Government Service Award, the Wichita Bar Association Howard C. Kline Distinguished Service Award, which is one of the two highest awards from that association, and the Wichita Women Attorneys Association Louise Mattox Attorney of Achievement Award, that association’s highest award. She has held a variety of positions with the Wichita Bar Association, including Chair of the Criminal Practice Committee, and President of the Wichita Young Lawyers Association. She has been a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and other legal organizations devoted to maintaining the high quality of the federal criminal justice system. She has made presentations on a variety of federal criminal defense topics at statewide and national conferences for criminal defense attorneys, and has spoken to numerous groups in her community about the federal criminal justice system.
