We are pleased to extend to you an invitation to join us on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, in Wichita for the 2011 Kansas Health Law Institute-Compliance Issues Program.

Each year Foulston Siefkin presents a day-long Health Law Institute focusing on the most pressing legal issues facing the health care industry.  The Health Law Institute is designed for senior executives, administrators, CEOs, CFOs, corporate counsel and compliance officers interested in minimizing legal exposure.  This year we grouped together the topics focusing on hospitals and physician groups in the morning and grouped together the compliance topics relevant to both the senior housing and care industry, as well as other health care providers in the afternoon.  You may attend the afternoon compliance issues program for just $75. All presentations will be made by experienced Foulston Siefkin lawyers who regularly advise senior housing and health care providers on a variety of legal issues.

Why You Should Attend.

  • Kansas health care providers are faced with an increasingly complex maze of federal and state regulations. Attendees will learn the latest developments in health law legal requirements impacting their operations and practices.
  • Attendees will receive presentation handout materials authored by Foulston Siefkin attorneys.
  • The registration fee for the half day program is only $75.

Seating is limited and spaces will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

From social networking issues to the changes in the law involving business associates – the last year has brought many important changes to the HIPAA laws.  A review of these important developments and a legal update of HIPAA and Kansas health information developments, from new laws to new attitudes related to the use and disclosure of health information, will be provided.  Among other things, this session will include a discussion of the challenges and solutions involving electronic health records and health information exchange.

  • Compliance 101: Cultivating a Culture of Compliance

With the additional fraud–fighting provisions included in the Accountable Care Act, along with stepped up enforcement initiatives, there is no better time to make sure your compliance program is up to snuff.  This session will go back to the basics by providing a review of the Office of Inspector General’s seven elements to operating an effective compliance program.  We will also discuss compliance tips and potential risk areas.

  • Recent Developments in Medicare and Medicaid Fraud Litigation

The Affordable Care Act has accelerated enforcement activity. This session will provide lessons learned from investigations and prosecutions across the country.
