This fall, Foulston Siefkin will be hosting a series of 2 Lunchtime workshops in Overland Park for Medical Community HR Professionals addressing HR issues relating to the lifecycle of an employee. This will be a great opportunity to receive employment law training in the four critical areas in a lifecycle of an employee: Hiring, Discipline, Termination and Retaliation.

Seating for each of the workshops is limited to 24 attendees to facilitate discussion and to provide the attendees an opportunity to share views with their medical community peers.

Who Should Attend?

This seminar is designed to benefit medical community human resource professionals with responsibility in their organization for the full range of issues arising out of the employer/ employee relationship.

What Subjects Will Be Addressed?

The first workshop will be held on Thursday, November 1st and will focus on Hiring and Discipline. In the Hiring/Discipline session, we will expose the potential legal issues that can trap the unsuspecting employer when making hiring decisions such as employment applications and interview questions. It will also provide helpful and practical tips on the disciplinary process, including the essential ingredients to a good disciplinary document.

The second workshop will be held on Thursday, December 6th and will focus on Termination and Retaliation. The Termination/Retaliation session will discuss factors to consider before making the difficult decision to terminate an employee and the responsibilities that are involved with this decision. We will discuss how to avoid or handle retaliation claims and what steps need to be taken to protect your company.

The workshops will be presented by experienced Foulston Siefkin employment and labor law attorneys, Vaughn Burkholder and Wyatt Wright, who advise companies in each of these 4 employment law areas.

Each of the 2007 Overland Park HR Box Lunch Series for Medical Community HR Professionals sessions have been submitted for recertification credit hours toward general credit hours for PHR, and SPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).
